"Spewing the View" by "Great Mind" Stacee

Whoopi, Joy, Sherri and Elisabeth were at the table.
Barb is still in LA covering the Oscars. Fridays shows are pre-taped.
Happy Friday!

Today, the ladies discussed Mitt Romney suspending his campaign. Whoopi acted confused about the term. They bought up the idea of the super delegates voting for him, but Joy emphatically said “let’s face it, he’s out”. Elisabeth said this allows him to save his money…not sure what her point was o. They say Mitt spent 100 million on his run to become president.
Sherri asked if you can write it off on your taxes. ( yes, she really asked that and I was giggling along with the audience). Elisabeth said sure, it would be a loss. Sherri said “It is loss, he lost!!” Joy said Mitt’s wife always looks like she’s on medication. Elisabeth said Mitts wife has MS and is holistic.

Elisabeth said she read that Mitts wife won’t take prescription meds, she takes a holistic approach to healing. Joy says Mitt’s wife always looks stunned and feels it’s shock at the expense (of money spent for this campaign). Whoopi was marveling at the amount of money it takes to run and OF COURSE Elisabeth bought up Hillary and how she just gave herself $5 million.
Whoopi countered with the fact that $5 million is a yawn compared to $100 million. Elisabeth said imagine if it was a McCain/Huckabee ticket. I swear, the woman had stars in her eyes and a huge smile on her face. Whoopi said “oh my God” and pointed to a couple of people that clapped saying “there’s one” ( I assume meaning they approve). Whoopi bought up a Barack and Hillary ticket and the audience loudly applauded. Elisabeth called that a powerful ticket and tough to beat (oh my, I agree with her on that). According to the Wasington Post, Hillary Clinton has missed 108 votes, 24% during the current Congress.

Barack Obama has missed 170 votes, 37% during the current Coingress.John McCain has missed 255 votes (at that Elisabeth said “I love the way you smile during that” in a sarcastic way). Sherri bought up the fact that Barack missed an appearance on The View to cast an important vote. Bitsy pointed out that he’s missed the most votes out of his party and is taking a lot of criticism for that, like John Kerry did. Joy talked about the stimulus package and how the Republicans vetoed the Democrats add-on for vets and elderly people. Elisabeth jumped in to clarify, because she spoke with John McCain’s press secretary in the Senate office( yes, I am rolling my eyes). She said John would have voted no on the bill (on principle!) , because it would cost this country $40 billion dollars more. Whoopi said what about the lives of these veterans have given up? Whoopi said John should have broke from the party because we having treated our vets as well as we should. Bits said John McCain of all people want to insure the vets are treated properly but they want to make sure that the bill does not cost so much.

Joy asked Bits is she has seen the trillion dollars George Bush is asking for. Bits says John is not George Bush (cough cough). Joy says when it comes to vets and old people they want to cut spending. Bits says it’s not a black and white issue (someone kill me now). Bits says John’s vote would not have made a difference. Whoopi said with all John has been saying, he should hav e been there for that vote. At that point, Whoopi must have received info in her ear. She then said never mind, I won’t repeat that kind of mess. She then made a really disgusted face. Hmmmm, wonder what was said? Sherri said she finds it hard to believe that as a veteran, John would say no to something that would affect so many members. Sherri mentioned reading her “Legislation for Dummies” book (giggle) and bought up earmarks.

Course Elisabeth still had to defend Johns vote - er… non- vote…by saying John did not feel this particular bill was the right one. She thinks there will be a better bill that McCain will say yes to. Go Team McCain!! Joy asked which party does Elisabeth believe is concerned about veterans ,old and poor people. Bits said both . Joy said oh really? and both Whoopi and Joy made faces. Bits started up and Whoopi said stop stop stop. Course Bits - still in cheer mode- would not. She said John is a vet, then Sherri broke in and said, “and he’s OLD!” Audience laughter, then Whoopi broke for commercial.

The majority of women would choose a million dollars over a slim waist. Whoopi then said after taxes you would probably end up with half of theat then state and local taxes would take even more. Then yappy Elisabeth said “and with Hillary in office you’re going to give it all back!” Joy said that is so not true. Elisabeth did a flick of her hair and had a cat that ate a canary look on her face. Joy said that’s ridiculous and all the while Elisabeth is flicking water on her face. Joy wanted to argue more but Whoopi said I gotta get through this. This was supposed to be an intro to Whoopi’s diet plan which obviously got derailed. After Whoopi made her point, Joy bought up the fact that this administration has spent more and given tax breaks to the wealthy. Elisabeth asked if tax cuts should only be given to certain people. Joy said they should be given to people that work. It got a little hot in there because Joy pointed to the Republican people nodding like “car bobble heads“). Elisabeth said even the Republican party has stepped away from Bush spending because it has been out of control (after 7+ years and a looming Presidential election, of course they‘ve stepped away, you dunce.

Why did they not step away long before then?). Joy said “they keep saying Reagan, Reagan, Reagan, like some weird Tourette Syndrome. Bits did the raising eyebrow thing, and had a pissed look on her face.
Whoopi feels all Americans should get a tax cut. Joy questioned whether the stimulus package will work. Whoopi bought up the point that if we had been paying attention to the banking system, a lot of this would not be happening. Today’s they announced another Room A Day Giveaway winner. Rob Lowe was the first guest. Rob stars on the show “Brothers and Sisters”. Because of the writers strike, he has become Mr. Mom. He can’t wait to get back to work.

Elisabeth loves his character because he (the character) is a Republican. Sherri bought up two her favorite movies, “St. Elmo’s Fire” and “About Last Night”. Sherri wanted to know which is most Rob Lowe. Rob says both. The ladies downstairs wanted to know if Rob knew how successful the “Outsiders” would be. He said they had no idea. Rob feels the reason a lot of celebrities have a hard time because there is a disconnect with being recognized on a large scale. He says acting is tough and he would rather his kids be a Supreme Court Justice.
Next segment guest was Jim Karas. He was there to help kick off Whoopi’s weight challenge. She will start a Cardio-Free diet. The idea is to lose weight without aerobics. This is achieved by doing interval strength training.

You challenge your muscles to maintain muscle mass. You also eat 1200 calories per day; three meals, one snack. You are not supposed to eat the same thing every day. Whoopi weighs 172 pounds. The goal is for her to lose 8-10 pounds.
The last segment had Sherri trying out three different occupations. The first was as a dog walker. The second was a pizza maker. The last job she explored was a zookeeper.

Very entertaining recap Stacee! Thank you so much!
Didn't TLB just say after she returned from maternity leave, that she wasn't thrilled about any of the candidates. I can't recall the wording. It was something like that.

So she has jumped on the McCain bandwagon. I would love to know how she feels about him not supporting torture voting against Bush's tax cuts and going against the party on immigration. She has to be one of the most shallow people on TV.

She goes whichever way the wind blows. I'm glad Joy didn't let TLB get away with her twisting of the facts, trying to make the other side look bad.

TLB has such a dislike for Hilary , so why bother talking to Chelsea? Chelsea must not watch the View.

Bottomline is that McCain should have been at that vote. Regardless if his vote would have made a difference.

How can he continue to support this war and turn his back on Vets.

I'm not familiar with the Bill and I'm sure it has stimpulations that McCain isn't happy about. So what! He should have done his job, voted, and expressed the reason this Bill is harmful to the nation.

Bits would rather focus on Obama's voting record rather than why McCain did not even show up to vote. Oh wait. He would have voted no on principle. Then she just had to speak with his press secretary to gloss over the reason for his absence of vote on this bill. I'm with LN, he should have just voted anyway. He took the chickensh*t way out, IMO.

Watching her today reminded me of when Rosie was on. She had that same all-knowing attitude. The only thing missing was the split screen.

I. can't. stand. her.

She has the nerve to predict that if Hillary becomes president, that Hillary would take all our money. My question is:
Where the hell were her fabulous predictions in 2000 and 2004????

Give the fox news whore her walking papers.

Stacee,
TLB thinks she's an "insider". She just couldn't wait to say she spoke with McCain's people.

I agree little navigator, McCain should have voted.

Michael, TLB is just another tool for the GOP.

Rain, you hit the nail on the head. TLB wanted to appear as if she is an insider. She'd better be careful though. If she keeps making excuses for McCain, she'll loose her FAUX News KissAss Merit Badge.

Michael your post on WTV had me lol.

I'm just waiting for her pro football husband to get caught having an affair, she is clueless that they all do it.

"I. can't. stand. her."

Well put, Stacee, including the punctuation! (and the whole recap was great as well) I get so exasperated with her. Especially when she lectures Joy & Whoopi like she did on this day.

I enjoyed the hot topics because Joy really fought back and even Whoopi did, making faces, too, at some of the absurdities coming out of TLB's mouth, And Whoopi and Joy tangled over things too, which I thought was interesting. All the arguing was done out of passion for countering TLB's b.s.; I didn't see personal anger. It was the way I'd like to see hot topics done every day.

Is there more than one Michael who comments on WTV?

Sybil,
I agree Stacee's recap was awesome!
I also think it's great when the other ladies stand up to TLB.

Diane,
I think TLB is going to become the next Kathy Lee.
